John Alessio (31-14) is slated to face UFC veteran Josh “The Dentist” Neer (29-10-1) at Superior Cage Combat in August.
Alessio announced the fight on Twitter, and Bleacher Report confirmed the news with a source close to the event.
Alessio stated: “I’m super pumped to take on multiple @ufc vet Josh ‘the Dentist’ Neer in the Main event @SuperiorCCombat Aug 20th @ the Orleans in Vegas!”
Superior Cage Combat will take place from The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on August 20.
Alessio is 7-1 since May 2009 and will be looking to extend that impressive record when he faces Neer. The Xtreme Couture-trained welterweight has notched 10 knockouts and 14 submissions in his career and could be one or two victories away from returning to the UFC.
Neer has won back-to-back fights since suffering a submission loss to top-10 lightweight Eddie Alvarez in May 2010.
