Jon Jones just loves to pick his shots on Twitter.
The UFC light heavyweight champion is no stranger to mixing it up with fighters and fans on this social media platform, and he recently targeted former heavyweight Daniel Cormier in response to a fan’s question.
While the tweet does not directly mention Cormier, Jones’ intentions are clear.
The fan responded to a previous tweet of Jones that simply read “#Champion2014” with “Glover, Gus, Cormier?,” inferring that Jones would take on those three 205-pound standouts in succession to retain his belt.
Instead of humoring the fan, Jones teased the possibility of a rematch with Rashad Evans. To connect the dots, Evans will fight Cormier at UFC 170, and Jones’ tweet implies that Evans will win and halt Cormier‘s ascent up the light heavyweight ladder.
Jones previously defeated Evans via unanimous decision at UFC 145 in what was a lackluster affair by the electric champion’s standards.
The two had previously trained together at Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., and their prior friendship seemed to spill into the Octagon, as neither man actively pursued a finish at any point in the fight.
Due to the nature of this first affair, some fans, as expected, were not pleased with Jones’ reluctance to address the proposed murderers’ row of Glover Teixeira, Alexander Gustafsson and Cormier.
What do you think of a rematch between Jones and Evans? Does that fight interest you at all, or do you have your sights set on Jones vs. Gustafsson 2 and Jones vs. Cormier?
