Having battled inner demons, failed drug tests and a New Mexico hit-and-run that nearly ended his career, Jon Jones knows a thing or two about adversity. During the early stages of his career, before “Bones” had taken up the role of heel, he had experienced some difficulties with the law. Since that time Jones became the undisputed UFC light-heavyweight champion, and stamped his name in the annuls as one of the all-time greats. Frustratingly, “Bones” didn’t leave behind his adolescence as he surpassed many of his predecessors in the record books.
Undeniably one of, if not the best fighter ever to grace the UFC octagon, Jon Jones still had a lot of growing to do outside the arena of combat. Following a failed UFC 200 drug test, the now interim champion again faced an uncertain future. Last week his lawyer revealed that Jones shad indeed taken a tainted batch of supplements, as supported by the USADA testing of the line of products. Now we wait for the hearing, and again anticipate the return of “Bones.” Thankfully for those who like to see Jones in verbal fights, he’s been getting in to it with former UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione.
‘Meathead’ left the UFC in March of this year following a brief stint as a free agent. The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights veteran had built up a 9-5 record with the promotion, but had been vocal about his displeasure over the Reebok apparel deal. Since joining Bellator, Mitrione has scored two knockout wins within three weeks of each other. Taking aim at Jon Jones on Twitter last night, ‘Meathed’ sparked a war of words with the UFC 205-pound interim boss:
To support his habit during suspension, apparently Jon Jones (he blocked me) picked up a cash job. Clever disguise Jon. pic.twitter.com/HzYHsknjil

That Got Ugly Real Quick
One thing is for certain, we will not see Matt Mitrione returning to the UFC in a hurry. Following a potentially lenient hearing, Jon Jones could be back in no time. Another day, another Twitter beef for “Bones.”
