Ciryl Gane shut down Jairzinho Rozenstruik to remain undefeated last night (Sat., Feb. 27, 2021) at UFC Vegas 20 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, but it wasn’t enough to impress former UFC champion Jon Jones.

Gane stuck to his own gameplan to win each round over Rozenstruik, but “Bon Gamin” didn’t necessarily impress. He relied heavily on leg kicks to keep Rozenstruik at bay and never seemed to go in for the kill. It didn’t help that Rozenstruik played statue and waited minutes for a perfect time to counter.

Midway through the fight, Jones took to social media to take a shot at the two heavyweight headliners. Jones, who relinquished his UFC light heavyweight title last year in pursuit of a run at heavyweight gold, warned Gane and Rozenstruik that things will be different when he arrives to the division.

“These boys better get used to pushing the pace, all this standing around ain’t gonna fly when daddy comes home.”

Jones, who is busy turning his body into a heavyweight killing machine, is expected to meet the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou 2 later this summer. “Bones” already has a history with Ngannou after lobbying for a fight with “Predator” last year. Ngannou, who was watching UFC Vegas 20’s main event as well, chimed in on Jones’ mid-fight comments.

“Daddy comes home?”

Ngannou will meet Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 260 next month (sick poster drop HERE). If “Predator” can avenge his previous loss to Miocic then maybe he can finally line up a fight with Jones. If Miocic wins again then fight fans get to see the best UFC heavyweight champion of all time take on the best UFC light heavyweight champion of all time. It doesn’t get any better than that.

As for Gane, he’ll likely have to win one more fight before throwing his name into the mix for a title shot. Derrick Lewis already has dibs once Jones gets his chance this summer so maybe Gane gets matched up against Alexander Volkov. That’s an even bigger test than Rozenstruik.
