Brock Lesnar just doesn’t go away in the world of MMA, and UFC heavyweight Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett is always ready to talk. Put them together and some fun soundbites emerge.
Recently, WWE manager Paul Heyman sat down with Fox Sports’ Damon Martin to talk about Lesnar‘s UFC career and how the former heavyweight champ’s battle with diverticulitis affected his ceiling in the sport.
Heyman made his thoughts perfectly clear, and his considerable praise of Lesnar left no lingering question marks.
“If Brock Lesnar ever fought healthy in the UFC, I don’t see any fighter that could have touched him,” Heyman said.
Barnett knows a guy who could have touched Lesnar. He sees him every day in the mirror. And he’s positive that man would not only touch the massive WWE superstar, he’d crush him (h/t MMA Mania for the find).
Right now, Barnett’s words, while powerful, seem fair enough. The Warmaster recently captured the inaugural Metamoris heavyweight title by submitting two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) champion Dean Lister at Metamoris 4, catapulting his stock to new heights.
Lister hadn’t been submitted in professional action in over 15 years despite facing some of the best grapplers on the planet, and Barnett totally dominated the action, ending the contest just before the buzzer.
If it wasn’t clear before, Barnett is a bad dude, and he’s a force like few others once the fight hits the ground. Coincidentally, that’s exactly where Mr. Lesnar looks to put every fight. While Lesnar is orders of magnitude larger than Lister, his technical grappling skills are far behind, and there’s little doubt that Barnett could snag a leg lock should the wrestling star look to take the fight to the ground.
What do you think? Would Barnett school Lesnar as easily as he thinks?
