Monday night saw the K-1 World Max Finals of the eight-man 70kg tournament from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
Besides kickboxing, the event also featured one mixed martial arts bout between former Olympic Judo Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii and Katsuyori Shibata. Ishii, pictured kneeling over top of Shibata, earned a first round technical submission win. The former Olympian used a knee-on-belly position to lock in a kimura forcing the referee to step in and call the bout at 3:30.
The 70kg World Championship Tournament finale saw Giorgio Petrosyan take on Yoshihiro Sato. Petrosyan would earn the unanimous decision to earn back-to-back tournament wins.
