Khabib Nurmagomedov blocks Robin Black on Twitter after UFC 209 breakdown

Robin Black has become a staple in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community when it comes to fight breakdowns and in-depth fight analysis. The MMA guru recently took some time to dissect Khabib Nurmagomedov’s upcoming matchup with Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 on Mar. 4 from Las Vegas, Nevada. That breakdown can be seen above courtesy of Fight Network.

As Nurmagomedov prepares to put his undefeated record up against Ferguson’s nine-fight win streak in order to capture the interim Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title, Black focuses on the Russian’s impenetrable ground game and unflappable ability to pressure an opponent. He also targets Ferguson’s tactical presence on the inside, stating that the streaking lightweight has a “trapdoor” to escape the sort of chest-to-chest pressure that Nurmagomedov will presumably lean on.

Unexpectedly, “The Eagle” took some offense to Black’s breakdown and decided to block him on Twitter. Maybe Nurmagomedov didn’t approve of Black presenting Ferguson as a fighter with no measurable weaknesses, but Black did refer to the Russian as a “brilliant fighter.”

“Weird thing, Khabib blocked me after I did this breakdown,” Black told MMA Mania. “Don’t know why. Maybe he thinks I exposed something. I don’t know.”

In just one week, Nurmagomedov will have the opportunity to prove some of Black’s analysis wrong. Whether he agrees or disagrees with the breakdown, Nurmagomedov will have his hands full with “El Cucuy” in a fight that will most likely be his toughest to date.

UFC 209 will be headlined by a welterweight title rematch between champion Tyron Woodley and top contender Stephen Thompson. The two fought to a majority draw at UFC 205 this past November.
