Certainly having adding a name that mma fans recognize right away can benefit any event, but when they continue to put on unimpressive bouts where does one draw the line.

Last night in Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Missouri the Titan Fighting Championship 17 event was headlined by former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley, who outweighed his opponent John Ott by almost 40 pounds, and “The New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni, who squared off with a 3-2 fighter in Nick Nolte.

Both Lashley and Baroni failed to impress fans with either of their performances, tiring out halfway through their fights and simply holding on for the win in the end.

Lashley did have an exciting first round though, slamming Ott to the canvas and dropping big punches. The smaller fighter showed his resilience by hanging on till the bell. When Lashley met Chad Griggs in his last fight, the former pro wrestler blamed his fatigue in the second round on an illness, but last night it looked fatigue had visibly set in at the start of the second. By the third round, fans were cheering for Ott who used his smaller size to dash in and out against Lashley, but the bigger man scored a takedown and rode out the rest of the round on top.

Lashley earned the unanimous decision.

Baroni would also make it a unanimous decision after three rounds of a sloppy fight. “The New York Bad Ass” simply faded into the second and had little for the third. In the third round all Nolte had to do was take Baroni to the mat and he could have easily finished from the top, but Nolte showed his cardio was just as poor. Fans were definitely not happy with this fight, showing their displeasure by beginning their booing in the second.

We’ve got the rest of the Lashley fight and the full Baroni bout after the jump.
