A thirteenth bout has been identified for this May’s upcoming UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold event in Brazil as Octagon sophomore’s Lucas ‘Mineiro’ Martinez (12-1) and Jeremy Larsen (8-3) appear set to meet in a lightweight bout.
Brazilian news site Tatame.com confirmed the match on Tuesday evening but has yet to be confirmed by promotion officials at time of writing.
UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold (aka UFC on FX 8) is expected to take place on May 18, 2013 at the Arena Jaraguá in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil. The event will see a middleweight clash between former UFC champ Vitor Belfort and Strikeforce title holder Luke Rockhold.
Martins debuted in the Octagon this past January, ending in the first loss of his pro-career after being forced to submit to punches in the first round versus Edson Barboza at UFC on FX 7. Prior to that ‘Mineiro’ had finished eleven of his past twelve opponents, earning his last victory in December at a Jungle Fights 46 event by knockout.
Larsen was a member of Team Cruz on TUF 15 and made his Octagon debut at the Finale. The Arizona fighter would lose that debut via first round TKO to fellow castmate Joe Proctor. The loss put an end to Larsen’s win streak at two with wins in 2011 by decision.
