Newly-crowned UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is set to make his first title defense against Chris Weidman, whom he beat at UFC 194 to win the title. Now, the two will have their rematch at UFC 199 and Rockhold, who is always outspoken, predicted that he would finish Weidman in the first-round.
“I would be surprised if it passes the first round, Rockhold told Fight Magazine (transcribed by Combate). It will not pass the second. We’re talking about Weidman, but every time I talk to you just talking about Brazil. This time will be no different.”
Anderson Silva is set to fight Michael Bisping on February 27, 2016 at UFC Fight Night 84. Silva has been outspoken about the fight and believes he will fight for the title after this fight. Rockhold commented on a possible fight with Silva and said that it would be an honor to fight him.
“I always wanted to face Anderson, since I was champion of Strikeforce and he was champion of the UFC. It would be an honor to beat him.”
With the middleweight division not what it once was, ‘Jacare’ Souza is a name that pops up as a possible title contender. According to Rockhold, he’s interested in the fight.
“I am interested in this fight. Who emerge victorious should be next in line. And I would be open to a rematch. It is hard to say. I think Vitor has advantage in the standing fight. The Alligator is good standing and good on the ground.Alligator give a great advantage in the fight as a whole.”
UFC 199 takes place in June, and if Rockhold wins again, it will be interesting to see who the bulldozing middleweight fights next.
