Anyone who questioned the severity of the elbow injury that caused Mark Munoz to withdraw from his co-main event bout with Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2 next week should look no further than “The Filipino Wrecking Machine’s” Twitter.
Munoz had successful elbow surgery at the Kerian-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic on Thursday, and then tweeted pictures showing the whopping 24 bone spurs that were removed.
Initially, Munoz thought he injured the elbow during a training session on the 13th when he was caught in keylock position and heard a pop, but the injury apparently came about from years of wear and tear between wrestling and training mixed martial arts.
The middleweight contender also tweeted that he will likely not be cleared to fight until June, even though he expects the recovery process to take just four to six weeks.
For fans with a strong stomach, more photos of the bone spurs removed from Munoz’s elbow can be found at lockerz.com.

A logical opponent for Munoz upon his return would be the loser of the match between Sonnen and Michael Bisping, Munoz’s last minute replacement, but that decision seems to be a long ways off right now.
