Count welterweight contender Martin Kampmann in as someone who doesn’t think divisional champ Georges St-Pierre belongs in a superfight with UFC middleweight title holder Anderson Silva.

“The Hitman” was candid in an interview with ESPN on how he thinks GSP vs. Silva would go and also believes Silva vs. light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is a much more intriguing fight:

I think [St-Pierre] is going to get knocked out. That’s my honest answer … I’d much rather see Anderson Silva fight Jon Jones. [Silva] is calling out the smaller guy. I’d like to see him fight Jon Jones. I think that’s a much more interesting fight, and that’s not just from my personal perspective. It’s also from a fan’s perspective.

Hearsay is that “The Spider” walks around anywhere between 215 and 230 pounds, while “Rush” has never tipped the scales at more than 200 pounds.

Additionally, Jones is said to weigh around 230-plus pounds in between fights and has already acknowledged that a move to heavyweight is inevitable in time.

Kampmann fights Johny Hendricks at UFC 154 this Saturday, where GSP also faces interim 170-pound champ Carlos Condit in a bout that was originally announced as a No. 1 contender bout.

However, after the talk of a superfight between Silva vs. GSP has heated up, UFC president Dana White said that he has “no idea” if the Kampmann-Hendricks winner will fight for the welterweight title.

The well-rounded Danish fighter is riding a three- fight win streak over the likes of Rick Story, Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger, the latter two being spectacular come from behind finishes.

Hendricks has been no slouch either, winning four in a row which includes big victories over Mike Pierce, Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck.

“Bigg Rigg” was the first fighter to knockout Fitch, a perennial contender in his own right, in 10 years.

Will the winner of Kampmann-Hendricks be forced to sit back and wait for a shot at UFC gold in wake of a heavily anticipated bout between GSP and Silva?
