It hasn’t taken long for the Chris Weidman hype train to go full steam into what could be a shot at Anderson Silva’s middleweight belt.
Weidman is coming off of a big second-round knockout of Mark Munoz last night and looks like the possible successor to Chael Sonnen as the No. 1 contender at middleweight.
Well, fellow middleweight Michael Bisping wants to have a crack at Weidman in what could be a fight for the No. 1 contender spot.

Bisping would be coming off an injury and lost his last time out to Sonnen in what was also considered a No. 1 contenders fight. Before that, Bisping had been riding a four-fight winning streak with his last loss coming to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110.
Weidman, on the other hand, is currently 9-0 and has won five fights in the UFC, including his last two wins over Munoz and Demian Maia—both of whom were, at one point, a top middleweight.
Bisping and Weidman could potentially square off in the No. 1 contender fight or the UFC could deem to give the shot to another fighter like Hector Lombard, who fights later this month at UFC 149. Or they could potentially bring over the winner of the Strikeforce middleweight title fight this weekend between Luke Rockhold and Tim Kennedy.
It is still unclear who the next challenger for Silva will be though, as we are still only less than a week removed from his last title defense.
