Ultimate Fighting Championship execs made a middleweight bout between Aaron ‘A-Train’ Simpson (9-2) and Eric ‘Red’ Schafer (12-5-2) official for next months UFC 136 event in Houston.
Simpson revealed the matchup on Friday with the official announcement coming on Monday at UFC.com.
UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III is set to take place on October 8 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Schafer is stepping in for an injured Nick Catone, who withdrew from the bout last week due to injury, and drops from light heavyweight to middleweight for this fight with Simpson. Schafer has dropped his last two fights, losing to Jason Brilz and Ryan Bader.
‘A-Train’ Simpson (pictured) is on a two fight win streak, having earned victories over Brad Tavares at UFC 132 and Mario Miranda at UFC Fight Night 24.
