Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Ian Garry will not be fighting Vicente Luque this weekend at UFC 296, as the Irish contender came down with a bad case of the flu which eventually turned into pneumonia.

This is according to UFC president, Dana White, who took to social media Wednesday night to confirm the rumors that Garry vs. Luque was off. The news was first reported by Chael Sonnen, who also mentioned Garry was taking his child to the hospital. White didn’t jump into too many details, but he said all he needed to say. Garry will not be fighting this weekend in Las Vegas.

Check it out below:

“I know it’s out there, there’s some speculation that Ian Garry and Luque is off. It is true,” said White via Twitter.

“Ian Garry started with the flu that turned into pneumonia. So that fight is off and it is not happening. It is true.”

Garry, who is one of the promotion’s biggest rising stars, failed to make his schedule appearance during Wednesday’s UFC 296 media day. Fight fans now know why the welterweight contender wasn’t in attendance. The severity of Garry’s illness is unknown at this time or if the promotion is going to try to bring in a replacement to fight Luque.

Of course, this all comes after Garry just went through a month of harassment for his marriage to an older woman. Garry has been bombarded by fellow fighters and MMA followers so much that he said he was concerned for “the safety of my family” during his trip to Las Vegas for UFC 296.

Kevin Holland’s take on the entire situation is an interesting one to say the least:

Even Donald Trump is getting denied for a UFC walkout!

Trump may not be allowed to walk out with Covington, but at least he can wrap the belt around his waist if he wins.
