Maiquel Falcao is not only dealing with his friend and teammate being in critical condition after taking part in a crazy brawl, but now the former Bellator title challenger will be without a gym as well.

Fighters Only is reporting that Falcao has been kicked off the Renovacao Fight Team according to Brazilian reporter Marcos Luca Valentim.

RFT leader Marcelo Brigadeiro released a statement saying that Falcao‘s and his teammate Kaue Mena‘s actions do not represent what his team is about. Here’s an excerpt:

The attitude of these two athletes did not reflect the behavior of our entire team. We are known for being one of the most successful teams in the world but also for being a true family of athletes and good men. Suitable character and exemplary behavior is expected of true martial artists.

The attitudes displayed by Maiquel Falcao and Kaue Mena were not consistent with what is preached and practiced by me to my students, not what is expected by our sponsors and business partners.

Brigadeiro explained that he sees students like Falcao and Mena as family and realizes that although he cares for them, removing them from the team is a necessary move.

Interestingly, one of Brigadeiro‘s comments suggests alcohol may have played a factor into all of this.

“As professionals and martial artists we should not and can not be associated with nightlife—the fights and confusion and alcohol consumption,” he wrote.

It isn’t Falcao‘s first time being in trouble due to women. In 2010 the Brazilian was arrested due to a warrant related to the bodily injury of a woman stemming from an incident 2002.

Falcao last competed at Bellator 88 in February and lost to middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko. Mena was accepted onto the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil but faces an uncertain future after receiving serious head trauma. He remains in critical condition.
