Nick RingA middleweight bout was added to June’s upcoming UFC 131 event between undefeated Canadian Nick “The Promise” Ring (11-0) and UFC newcomer James Head (7-1).

The announcement was made by UFC officials on Monday, with UFC President Dana White commenting “Seven-and-one James head is coming off an impressive victory over UFC veteran Gerald Harris and has verbally agreed to make his UFC debut against the undefeated Canadian middleweight Ring.”

UFC 131: Lesnar vs. Dos Santos will take place on June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in the promotions second visit to that city. The event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between “TUF 13″ coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos.

Ring made his UFC debut this past February, earning a unanimous decision over Riki Fukuda at UFC 127. Fans may remember him as a member of Team Punishment from the eleventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter” but was forced from competing in the quarter-finals because of a knee injury. Ring was not able to compete at the TUF 11 Finale because of his knee, and met Fukuda in Sydney for his debut. The unanimous decision was a controversial one over Fukuda, leaving many in disagreement with the result.

Head, who trains in Oklahoma City under famed BJJ practitioner, Rafael Lovato Jr., will make his UFC debut and carries a two fight win streak into the octagon. Head fought for various promotions over his eight fight career, earning four of his victories by first round TKO. His most recent victory came over former UFC fighter Gerald Harris in February at an Xtreme Fight night event.
