UFC President Dana White announced a bantamweight matchup between Canadian fighter Yves ‘Tiger’ Jabouin (15-7) and American fighter Ian ‘The Barn Owl’ Loveland (14-8).

A Canadian and an American will meet in Brazil on August 27th, as bantamweights Yves Jabouin and Ian Loveland square off in a UFC 134 bout.

“Ian Loveland and Yves Jabouin have verbally agreed to fight on August 27 in Rio De Janeiro,” said UFC President Dana White. “Both are exceptionally tough competitors and this will be Jabouin’s first bout in the bantamweight division.”

UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami is scheduled to take place on Aug. 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between champion Anderson Silva and challenger, Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami.

Jabouin will hope to keep his job with Zuffa when he steps into the Octagon in Brazil, having lost his last fight, sporting a 1-3 record between the UFC and WEC promotions. The ‘Tiger’ debuted with the UFC last April at the companies first stadium event, losing by submission to Pablo Garza at UFC 129. His last win was over Brandon Visher at WEC 52, while dropping two straight previous to Mark Hominick at WEC 49 and to Rafael Assuncao by split decision at WEC 43.

Loveland is 1-1 in the UFC, having made his bantamweight debut last March against Joseph Benavidez. ‘The Barn Owl’ would lose a unanimous decision to Benavidez, ending a seven fight win streak which included winning his UFC debut at the “TUF 12 Finale” by defeating Tyler Toner via decision last December. Loveland has fought for various promotions across North America before making his Octagon debut.
