This is UFC 244 in a few short tweets.
UFC 244 is in the books and it saw a great performance from Jorge Masvidal against Nate Diaz get a bit of an anticlimactic ending. The bout was stopped due to cuts, and while many thought it could’ve been allowed to continue, Masvidal was eventually awarded the “BMF title.”
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
ANDERSON TKOs WALKER
PROS: Anderson derailed that hype train with ease. Not sure if he gets a title shot next, but LHW has a new contender.
CONS: Walker kept wildly trying to land big punches instead of trying to defend and recover, and it led to the finish.

CONS: Unless you’re Gillespie, none.

LEWIS DECISIONS IVANOV
PROS: Lewis’ cardio seems to have improved quite a bit, so he was able to still pour it on (by his standards) in the third. His post-fight interview is always money.

WONDERBOY BEATS UP LUQUE
PROS: Picked him apart, dropped him multiple times, and threw way more offense than usual. Styles make fights, and aggressive guys bring out the best in Wonderboy.
CONS: Not a big deal, but I wasn’t a fan of the commentary.https://t.co/9JP2J1qe1i

TILL DECISIONS GASTELUM
PROS: Till looked good at MW. Active, mobile — even in the 3rd — anddd he looked huge for the division.
CONS: Wasn’t the most entertaining bout as Gastelum didn’t really do much. What was his game plan? One judge took crazy pills.https://t.co/AvciaNw1Ua

MASVIDAL BEATS DIAZ DUE TO CUTS
PROS: Masvidal looked great, clearly won all 3 rounds. He read Diaz well, constantly landed big right kicks and punches.
CONS: The doctor’s stoppage was anticlimactic, especially with Diaz’s reputation of turning it up in the championship rounds

#UFC244 OVERALL
PROS: Masvidal looked great. He should honestly just go for the title, but I wouldn’t complain in seeing a rematch. Till and Wonderboy had quality wins.
CONS: NYSAC flubbing things again, with weigh-in elbow gate, weird scores, and then that doctor stoppage.
