According to a report by Karim Zidan, Bellator fighter Shahbulat Shamhalaev was shot five times, including once in the head, during an altercation in his home country of Dagestan on Tuesday.

Zidan also noted that the incident came about after Shamhalaev tried to return to the scene of an altercation on Monday to “make peace.”
The 32-year-old last fought for Bellator in 2014, falling to Fabricio Guerreiro. He went 3-2 over five fights with the promotion between 2012-14.
