The revolving door that is the UFC 146 main card continues to move along with yet another change.

Brazilian heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga has injured his back and has had to withdraw from his upcoming UFC 146 bout with Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson (16-7). Stepping in for Gonzaga on a little over three weeks notice will be Dave ‘Pee Wee’ Herman (21-3).

News of the change was announced by the promotion at UFC.com late Tuesday night.

After much reshuffling on the all-heavyweight main card, Roy “Big Country” Nelson now has his third opponent since the event was announced. Gabriel Gonzaga is out with an injury, just 8 days after being slotted to fight Nelson after Nelson’s original opponent, Bigfoot Silva, was plucked for another bout. Hirsute heavyweight Dave Herman will now fill in against the TUF 10 winner.

UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. Mir is expected to take place on May 26, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nelson is 1-3 in his last four Octagon appearances, going 1-1 in his last two bouts. His most recent match saw him lose a unanimous decision to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 143 in a mostly one-sided striking clinic by the Brazilian. The bout earned the two the “Fight of the Night” bonus. Before that loss, ‘Big Country’ stopped Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic at UFC 137 via TKO.

Herman is 1-1 since joining the UFC last summer. ‘Pee Wee’ was stopped by Stefan Struve at UFC on FUEL TV 1 via TKO last February. The loss ended a three fight win streak. Herman won his debut at UFC 131 last June by finishing John Olav Einemo in the “Fight of the Night” bout.
