Is Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone happening?

There’s been quite a bit of talk about a possible matchup between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone, with “Cowboy” even going as far as saying that it “looks like” the bout will be for the interim lightweight title. UFC commentator Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub also recently stated that the match up is pretty much official.

“I think it’s going to be Conor and Cowboy. Conor and Cowboy is a done deal, as far as I know,” Rogan said on his JRE podcast.

“Me too,” Schaub replied, before stating that he’s good friends with Cerrone. “As far as I know, Cowboy signed a contract.”

Dana White, who had earlier said he’s “down” to make that fight happen, then denied that McGregor vs Cerrone has already been booked.

“Not true. Not even close,” White told TMZ. “It’s not even close to being done.”

The UFC president hasn’t always been the most truthful of people at times, but if somehow what all three parties are saying are true, the hold up could possibly be on McGregor’s end.

Either way, the UFC, McGregor and Cerrone have all seemed interested in making the fight happen. So if that’s still the case now, it will likely be just a matter of time before they can make it official.

McGregor is currently suspended for his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl. He will be eligible to compete this April.
