In a little over a month, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will be traveling to Toronto, Ontario for UFC 140.
The main card will be headlined around UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who will look to successfully defend his title against No. 1 contender Lyoto Machida.
Also featured on the main card is the Canadian product Rory MacDonald, who will look to continue in his recent success against the highly dangerous Brian Ebersole.
But, that all changed today when UFC President Dana White announced that MacDonald will no longer be fighting due to an injury he endured in training preparations leading up to his bout with Ebersole.
Now, instead of fighting MacDonald, Ebersole will take on up and coming welterweight Claude “The Prince” Patrick.
Patrick was originally scheduled to square off with Rich Attonito, but graciously accepted White’s offer to fight Ebersole.
Attonito will now await an opponent for his bout that is nearly a month away.
There has been no word on the extent of MacDonald’s injury.
