Super-fight? Cyborg willing to move to 155 lbs, Harrison responds

Bellator champ vs PFL champ?

Kayla Harrison has been looking incredibly dominant at lightweight. The PFL champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Judoka went 11-0 in her MMA career on Thursday night, easily dispatching Genah Fabian for her third straight first round finish this year.

Harrison still has her million dollar PFL finals match coming up next against Taylor Guardado, but could there be a higher profile opponent in the horizon too?

Long time featherweight champion Cris Cyborg reacted to Harrison’s latest win, saying that she’s willing to move up and add a new belt to her collection.

Harrison responded shortly after the event, laughing off the challenge.

“Oh, we know she can make 155 lbs. Congratulations!” Harrison said with a laugh during her post-fight press conference. “Do you want a participation trophy? You can make it, but you can’t beat me!”

As she mentioned, Cyborg has impressively remained at the top of the sport for well over a decade, winning every major featherweight belt from UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce, and Invicta FC. Cyborg has just one loss since her pro-debut in 2005, and has now won four in a row dating back to her last UFC win in 2019.

While Harrison seemed to brush it off, this potential Bellator champ vs PFL champ super-fight would surely be the highest profile match possible outside of facing Amanda Nunes in the UFC.

This would also go in line with what Harrison has asked for, when the 31-year-old MMA star challenged the PFL to quickly come up with challengers or offer her “life-changing” money to make her stay.

Could Cyborg be that solution? There of course will be hurdles to make it happen, with both promotions needing to strike a deal not only with each other, but with both women, who will likely require (and deserve) a pay bump for this.
