Tito Ortiz reveals a target date for his next pro-MMA fight despite the belief that he was retired from the sport.
Ortiz announced his official retirement as an active pro-MMA fighter following his latest fight that took place in 2018 but that isn’t sticking.
Ortiz was able to score a first-round knockout victory over Chuck Liddell last year in their third fight inside The Forum in Inglewood, California on pay-per-view. Following the fight, Ortiz retired as he was looking for a landing spot with Oscar De La Hoya in Golden Boy Promotions.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion noted in a recent interview that he’d most likely fight in October. Regarding which promotion that he’ll fight for next remains to be seen. Same goes for his opponent.
“I’ll probably fight in October,” Ortiz told TMZ. “After I fought Chuck last year, I thought it was gonna be my last one. But, my body’s intact, everything’s fast, everything’s great. Sparring’s been good. Training’s been great. So, let’s do one for fun.”
His accomplishments speak for themselves as he is a UFC Hall of Famer and has fought the biggest names in MMA. He holds wins over the likes of Randy Couture, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Evan Tanner, Jerry Bohlander, Guy Mezger, Ken and Frank Shamrock, Forrest Griffin and Lyoto Machida.
Back in 2000, he beat Wanderlei Silva for the vacant light heavyweight title. Three years later, he dropped the title to Couture after defending the title five times.
