In the last Facebook fight, Jeremy Stephens took on Danny Downes, who stepped in on short notice.
Stephens took the fight to Downes early, but his first takedown was stuffed by Downes.
After getting nailed by a nice combo, Downes closed the distance. Stephens was able to regain distance quickly, and landed a couple of more punches before closing the distance for a takedown attempt. Downes was able to stuff the takedown attempt once again.
Stephens once again was able to land some powerful combos before the round came to an end.
In the second round, Stephens was finally able to get the takedown, but not before having to work his way out of a guillotine choke.
Working from side control, Stephens worked a kimura on Downes’ left arm. Downes showed a ton of heart by not tapping even as his arm was in a very unnatural position. Realizing he wasn’t going to tap, Stephens gave up the submission, and landed a few hard elbows.
After a stoppage due to a low blow, they traded once again, until Stephens scored another takedown as the round ended.
In the last round, Stephens scored the early takedown, but Downes was able to get up quickly. Stephens landed an elbow, cut Downes above the left eye, then took him for a huge ride before slamming Downes to the mat.
Downes was able to get back to his feet, but Stephens nailed him with some punches, then took him down again. Downes got back up again, they traded for a moment, then Stephens took the fight back to the ground again.
From the bottom, Downes worked an active guard, but it wasn’t enough to keep Stephens from mauling him for the remainder of the round.
The judges scored the fight 30-27, 30-26, 30-36, all for Stephens.
