UFC Fight Night 94 (also known as UFC Hidalgo) emanated from the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, TX, tonight (September 17, 2016).

Headlined by a potentially outstanding scrap between top-ten lightweights, Dustin Poirier and Michael Johnson went to war. A potential spot in the top five was on the line.

It was a short war.

The lightning fast hands of Michael Johnson proved the difference. A counter right hook to the jaw sent Poirier flat on his back less than two minutes into the bout. A series of punches followed on the dazed American Top Team representative. Though few of the punches appeared to connect cleanly, Poirier was clearly in a bad way, forcing referee Dan Miragliotta to intervene on his behalf.

The co-main event saw athletic specimens Uriah Hall and Derek Brunson do battle. Their fight was as abbreviated as the headliner.

Brunson first corralled the aggressive Hall by threatening with a takedown and then working him over against the fence. Hall would escape back to the center of the Octagon, but found little respite. After eating a whipping front kick to the midsection, Brunson pressured Hall back toward the fence. An overhand left dropped Hall in his tracks at the base of the cage, and followup strikes sealed the deal.

Brunson called for a title shot in the aftermath of his fourth straight first round knockout.
