According to the figures released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission the Ultimate Fighting Championship drew an official gate total of $3,605,725 for the Feb. 5 UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A total of 10,893 fans were in the arena watching the event live with 9,667 actual tickets sold and 1,226 complimentary tickets given away.
Compared to the last pay per view event, UFC 125 which did $2.17 million in gate revenue and sold 6,978 tickets with 5,896 complimentary tickets being given away, the totals for UFC 126 were significantly stronger.
Of course the event was helped by a strong headliner with Anderson Silva defending his title against Vitor Belfort, while UFC 125 had Frankie Edgar up against Gray Maynard which turned out to be one of the most exciting fights of the year.
Certainly it will be interesting to see what the numbers will be like for UFC 130 when Edgar and Maynard step back into the octagon for their back-to-back title bout.
