UFC 131 fight card provides big challenge for Nick Ring

For a guy who’s won a few fights decidedly, Nick Ring has plenty to prove as he takes on James Head at UFC 131. There is no fighter that has been more talked about on the undercard, and more scrutinized in the process.

Ring was a star on TUF 11, but had to pull out because of knee issues. He did, however, manage to beat the eventual champ during his time on the show.

He’s undefeated and going against Head who has had but one loss. So here we are and no one wants to believe that Ring is for real. Of those vaunted 11 victories, Ring has only had a quality opponent once. So the knock is that he hasn’t fought anyone substantial.

James Head could be that fighter he needs to escape some of the criticism that has been heaped upon him these last few months.

Ring is a talented fighter who has yet to lose a professional fight. Yes, his opponents haven’t been top notch, but it’s not as if he’s labored to beat them all. He’s beat everyone in his path, and while I think that Head is a good fighter, I think Ring is the better fighter and will show that.

Ring will get his respect Saturday.
