Going 11-1 in your last 12 fights says something about the kind of run you are having, but so does a 14-0 record in your career.

That’s the backdrop of UFC’s latest mid-card addition to UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber.

What we have is Carlos Condit from Dung Hyun Kim. These two fighters are just establishing themselves in UFC, but they have both amassed a pretty impressive resume. Condit was a WEC welterweight champ. His start in UFC didn’t go as planned, but he’s managed to win three straight.

His opponent, Kim, has never lost a fight in the UFC, or otherwise. He’s been a perfect professional. Kim has his star on the rise but what you are getting from Condit might be far more impressive. While both are well rounded athletes with a broad ranging skill set, Condit is a better fighter on the group. Though the advantage there is slight, it’s enough to make a difference in a fight between two evenly matched men.

Condit may have something going for him that Kim doesn’t: momentum. Condit has been red hot of late and he’s done so against good fighters like Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald. It’s one thing to be padding the win column against glorified bums, but these are not bums. Condit will use his combination of speed, strength and submission techniques to take out Kim and end his undefeated streak.

Momentum is a fickle thing, but Condit has it right now and it will propel him to new heights.
