UFC 137 is unfortunately going to go down in the record books as another UFC event that had the main event cancelled at the last minute due to injury.
With no more welterweight title bout between Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz and BJ Penn snuck their way into the main event.
This bout seems to be an unofficial No. 1 contender bout; whether or not UFC President Dana White would bump either fighter ahead of Condit is anyone’s guess.
The co-main event will feature two hard hitting heavyweights in Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione, while the heavyweight showdown between Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Roy Nelson should be a highly entertaining battle in its own right.
The main card is rounded out with some of the little guys trying to make a name for themselves, as Scott Jorgensen squares off with Jeff Curran in a bantamweight showdown, while Hatsu Hioki and George Roop round out the main card in a featherweight scrap.
Bleacher Report MMA Featured Columnists Dale De Souza, Jordy McElroy, Jeffrey McKinney, Dwight Wakabayashi and myself, John Heinis, are letting you know whose getting their hand raised on Saturday night.
