On Dec. 10, 2011 the Ultimate Fighting Championship will be traveling to Toronto for UFC 140.
The pay-per-view event will air live from the Air Canada Centre beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and 9:00 p.m. ET.
The main event of the evening will feature UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who will put his title up for grabs against No. 1 contender, Lyoto Machida.
Since entering the sport of mixed martial arts in April 2008, “Bones” Jones has been nearly unbeatable, as his only defeat came in a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill at the Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale.
Eight months ago, Jones was declared the youngest champion in UFC history as he knocked out Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128.
UFC fans across the globe couldn’t believe how quickly Jones flew to the top of the 205-pound rankings, as he would once again put his title up for grabs at UFC 135.
In the main event of the evening, Jones would submit Quinton “Rampage” Jackson via Rear-Naked Choke and remain the light heavyweight champion.
Jones will now await arguably his toughest opponent to date, Machida.
Despite losing two of his last three bouts, Machida has made it known he’ll do whatever it takes to regain his much-desired title.
This includes training with former Olympic boxer Luiz Carlos Dorea.
Even so, Machida has yet to face an opponent with the well-rounded skill set of Jones.
While Machida may demonstrate a fighting style that Jones’ isn’t necessarily comfortable with, he’ll still be squaring off with one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
As Jones’ dominance and Machida’s training preparations will soon clash, UFC fans across the globe have one question…
Could Jon Jones get upset by Lyoto Machida?
