Brock Lesnar‘s return to action will go well for him. As a result of that, he’ll reclaim his place of one of the sport’s top heavyweights.

Even when he’s in the ring against a tough opponent, Lesnar is a monster. Make no mistake, Alistair Overeem is a tough opponent, but he won’t be able to stand up to the rage that Lesnar will unleash.

Remember that while he’s an undeniable huge name, Lesnar is still relatively new to the world of MMA. I suppose a case could be made that that means he won’t stack up to a veteran like Overeem, but argument doesn’t stack up.

If that was the case, then he wouldn’t have a 5-2. He certainly wouldn’t have won the UFC Heavyweight Championship, or defended it successfully twice. Before Cain Velasquez knocked Lesnar out, he had only one loss, to Frank Mir. That loss has since been avenged.

If Lesnar was really too inexperienced, none of that would apply. Sure, a case could be made that he got a title shot because of his name. That may or may not be true, but getting a title shot and winning (and then defending) that title are two different things. Lesnar has taken advantage of every opportunity he’s had.

Now, Lesnar is doing something that he’s only had to do once in his MMA career. He’s trying to bounce back from a loss.

Yes, that loss was over a year ago, but there’s no way that it’s not still burning with Lesnar. Overeem is not the man who handed him the loss, but he will suffer Lesnar’s wrath from it.

Look for Lesnar to come out aggressive. That’s not a particularly unique strategy, but also look for him to be focused, and balanced. He now knows that aggression has a drawback. He won’t curb the aggression, but he will be more prepared for Overeem’s defenses.

We’re not going to get a long fight in this one, but there will be plenty of action. Lesnar will get his career back on track with a win.

Prediction: Lesnar via first-round knockout.
