UFC 148: Silvs vs. Sonnen II poster featuring Griffin vs. Ortiz
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back on pay-per-view tonight with UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Headlining the action will be a middleweight title rematch between UFC champion Anderson Silva and top contender Chael Sonnen. The bad blood has finally boiled in the last couple of weeks with ‘The Spider’ breaking his normal composure by talking trash at the pre-fight press conference and shouldering Sonnen in the chin during Friday night’s weigh-ins.
The co-main event bout has former light heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz meeting in a trilogy bout, with each man earning a victor over the other in their previous two meetings. The bout is more significant due to the fact that this is the last time fans will see Ortiz fight as the ‘People’s Champ’ is set to retire after the match.
