Will the UFC have a new middleweight champion at the conclusion of Saturday night’s UFC 162 fight card?
That’s the question that has been on the minds of fight fans in the days leading up to the bout between UFC champion Anderson Silva and top-ranked challenger Chris Weidman.
Silva has not lost a fight during his run with the UFC, going 16-0. On Saturday, he will look to extend that streak to 17-0 and his title defense record to 11 straight. Standing in his way is the unbeaten Weidman (9-0).
Many fighters are picking Weidman to win based on his strong wrestling and ground game. In order to do what no man has done in the UFC, defeat Silva, he will need to overcome the striking accuracy and elusiveness of the champ—the man many consider the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
The main card of UFC 162 kicks off at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view.
