UFC 183’s Richardson Moreira ‘motivated’ after training camp with Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva returns to action against Nick Diaz on Saturday night, and one of his training partners for UFC 183 will also step inside the Octagon.

Team Nogueira’s Richardson Moreira, who helped Silva prepare for his return to the UFC after a gruesome leg injury, battles Ildemar Alcantara in the preliminary portion of the UFC 183 card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and that made him train harder for the fight.

“It’s an extra motivation, for sure. Fighting on the same card of Anderson Silva was a gift from the UFC,” Moreira told MMAFighting.com. “I was looking forward to fight again, was hoping to fight in Brazil, but when they gave me the opportunity in this card, I was super happy.

“It’s a special card, the return of Anderson Silva. He’s a good friend, but also a great training partner, an idol. We know what he can do, how much he worked hard to get back in there, so I’m thrilled to be part of this card with him.”

Cutting down to 185 pounds after a quick loss to Marcos Rogerio de Lima in his promotional debut as a heavyweight, after being part of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 cast, “Rick Monstro” says his conditioning coach Rogerio Camoes “did a fantastic job” with his diet and gas tank. Alcantara, who also debuts at middleweight after a 2-2 run as a welterweight in the UFC, needs to get back on track, and Moreira expects a tough fight.

“Ildemar is a fantastic fighter,” he said. “I know that I will have a warrior in front of me in the Octagon. It’s going to be a good fight to watch. It’s going to be a war, and the better fighter will win.”

“Marajo” was 9-4 in MMA when Moreira competed for the first time, and he knows that experience could be a factor at UFC 183, although he expects to win the fight everywhere.

“I’m ready to fight him in all areas,” “Rick Monstro” said. “He’s a complete fighter, more experienced than me. I know I’m heading into a dangerous fight. I already looked up to Ildemar when I started fighting. I’m honored to be fighting him. I know he’s tough, and he’s going to test me.”
