With one of the greatest knockout blows that fight fans of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will see this year, rising Featherweight contender Yair Rodriguez landed a flying head kick to the face of Andre Fili in round two to capture victory at UFC 197 last night (Sat., April 23, 2016) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It marked Rodriguez’s fourth UFC victory in as many attempts.

Prior to the knockout, Team Alpha Male standout Fili was surviving on the feet opposite a more experienced striker in Rodriguez. But, he was simply incapable of matching the versatility, dexterity and creative output the 23-year-old Mexican possessed.

This victory certainly shed some light on how good Rodriguez can be when he’s in the zone. His evolution on the feet and on the ground should help propel him to the Top 15 by year’s end. As for “Touchy,” he needs to get back to work and focus on developing his standup.
