UFC 209 fight card, lineup for Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson 2 PPV tonight

One of the biggest rematches of the year is going down tonight (Sat., Mar. 4, 2017) at UFC 209 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight king Tyron Woodley puts his title on the line opposite Stephen Thompson. It marks the second time in just four months that the two superstars will collide inside of the Octagon, fighting to a majority draw at UFC 205 this past November.

In their first matchup, Woodley did considerably more damage than “Wonderboy.” He landed heavy power punches, nearly popped Thompson’s head off with a guillotine choke and never really seemed to get into too much trouble on the feet. However, Woodley was unable finish Thompson when the opportunity presented itself. This allowed “Wonderboy” to score points, steal some rounds, and fight back to an even split. Thompson will look to uncork even more offense in the reboot, as Woodley will most likely follow the same gameplan as Rounds 1-5.

In other PPV main card action, talented lightweight strikers Lando Vannata and David Teymur will lock horns in the co-main event of the evening. The original co-attraction was an interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, but “The Eagle” unfortunately was pulled from the card after suffering serious medical issues during his weight cut. UFC was unable to piece anything else together in order to keep “El Cucuy” on the card, so fight fans will have to push forward with a sneaky Vannata vs. Teymur matchup.

Not to worry. The rest of the card offers entertaining bouts through and through. From former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans’ middleweight debut (he looked yoked during the official weigh ins) to a heavyweight clash between former title challengers Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt, UFC 209 should deliver action on arrival.
