The memorable finishes kept rolling in earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 7, 2019) at UFC on ESPN 7 live on ESPN from inside Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., as Tim Means dropped veteran welterweight Thiago Alves midway through the first round before securing an impressive guillotine choke submission

Alves offered some good offense early with leg kicks and combinations inside, but Means eventually found his groove and let loose with his punches. During an exchange in the middle of the Octagon Means blasted “Pitbull” with a crisp left hand that dropped him. Means moved in for additional strikes before locking in the guillotine choke along the cage and forcing the Brazilian to tap.

With this performance, Means gets back into the UFC win column after getting knocked out by Niko Price back in March. He also scores his sixth finish in his last seven UFC wins. The 35-year-old will take this momentum and try to create a meaningful win streak in the new year.

As for Alves, this was his last fight on his UFC contract and it is unknown if the promotion wants to re-up the struggling veteran. “Pitbull” does still offer a fan-friendly fighting style, but it may not be enough considering he has lost six out of his last eight Octagon appearances.
