The UFC travels to the northeast corner of the continental 48 on Saturday, as UFC Fight Night 47 will take place as the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.
President Dana White, who attended Hermon High School just 11 minutes west of the night’s venue, talked about the importance of bringing the UFC to Bangor, via the Portland Press Herald‘s Steve Craig:
I spend a lot of my time in Maine. I have a home in Maine and it’s been a goal of mine to bring a huge UFC fight to the state. Bangor is close to my home and when the Cross Center was being built, that was the spot to go for. If Bangor does well hopefully we can look to put one in Portland.
He certainly has a compelling card to build interest.
Ryan Bader will battle Ovince St. Preux in the night’s headliner, but Grey Maynard vs. Ross Pearson is arguably just as compelling, while Maine native Tim Boetsch takes on Brad Tavares in an important middleweight contest.
Let’s take a look at how the entire card unfolds.
