MMA fighter Josh Samman died Wednesday morning after being hospitalized last Thursday, his manager Gary Ibarra confirmed to Damon Martin of Fox Sports.

He had been in a coma for the entirety of his hospitalization. He was 28 years old.

Samman’s friend and roommate, Troy Kirkingburg, was found dead at the scene where Samman was discovered last Thursday.

Hollywood Police suspected a drug overdose, according to Karl Etters of the Tallahassee Democrat, though Samman’s mother released a statement to Fox Sports stating that no heroin had been discovered in the fighter’s system.

Hollywood Police Department spokesperson Miranda Grossman said that no signs of foul play were discovered at the scene, per Etters.

Samman appeared on the 17th season of UFC Ultimate Fighter, featuring on Jon Jones’ team. He fought five times in the UFC, going 3-2 and defeating Eddie Gordon and Caio Magalhaes in “Performance of the Night” showings. He had since written a memoir, The Housekeeper: Love, Death & Prizefighting, about the tragic death of his girlfriend in a car accident.
