With all the major strides the UFC and MMA fighting has made over the year to get through barrier after barrier to make their sport mainstream, it seems that they may have finally overcome their biggest challenge to date: The Big Apple.
UFC president Dana White sent out a Tweet today that stated:
danawhite Dana White AWESOME meeting in NYC!!! Should have some news for u by the end of the week. Grabbing lunch and flying back to Vegas for Diaz vs Penn!!!!
White usually doesn’t post something like that unless he has some kind of deal in place, as the UFC in NYC may finally come to fruition.
When it does, you can be sure that the card for that historic event will be one of the biggest, if not the biggest card in UFC’s history, most likely held at the world famous Madison Square Garden.
After years and years of battling to get the UFC on the world’s biggest stage in New York, all of the fighting outside of the ring for White appears to have paid off.
White and his “never give up” attitude may have really paid off this time, as it’s been known for the last few years that his biggest goal was to land the UFC in New York, and 2012 looks like his dream will finally come true.
