Lightweight veteran Jim Miller played to the home crowd earlier today (Sat., Aug. 3, 2019) at UFC on ESPN 5 inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, by finishing UFC veteran Clay Guida via guillotine choke just 58 seconds into the first round.

This co-main event affair delivered from the opening bell as Guida landed a big right hand that rocked Miller. The New Jersey native responded in kind and hurt “Carpenter” with a clean left before jumping on top for the guillotine choke. Guida refused to tap and eventually went to sleep, as referee Herb Dean was late to stop the fight yet again.

With this performance, Miller locks down his 20th career UFC victory and secures his third submission finish in the past 11 months. The 35-year-old veteran likely isn’t going to climb the lightweight rankings to a title shot but he still has enough left in the tank to put forth memorable outings like this one.
