The final event of UFC’s three-card week went down in epic fashion last night (Sat., May 16, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 8 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., as Alistair Overeem withstood Walt Harris’ best to earn a second-round TKO finish. In addition to Overeem’s eighth Octagon finish, former women’s strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha narrowly defeated surging veteran Angela Hill in the co-main event, and featherweight contender Dan Ige spoiled former lightweight Edson Barboza’s 145-pound debut in an epic exchange of striking and chins.
Fight fans also got to see welterweight newcomer Miguel Baeza earn a vicious knockout finish over returning veteran Matt Brown, Song Yadong edge out Marlon Vera in a clash of featherweight brawlers, and women’s veteran Cortney Casey move back up to flyweight to finish Mara Romero Borella via first-round armbar.
