The injury roll call that began on Wednesday night for UFC on Fox 8 on July 27 has continued into Thursday.
The UFC announced on Wednesday that Matt Mitrione vs. Brendan Schaub was off the card. On Thursday, the promotion added two more changes to the upcoming event.
On July 7, Siyar Bahadurzada took to Instagram to display the design for his UFC on Fox 8 walkout shirt. Bahadurzada did not mention the sponsor of the shirt, but one can only hope that they did not roll the design into production.
Bahadurzada (21-5-1) has been pulled from the fight card due to injury and replaced by Bobby Voelker (24-9-0). Voelker will step in to face Robbie Lawler (20-9-0). It should be noted that Lawler was originally scheduled to face Tarec Saffiedine on the July 27 card.
Voelker is coming off a loss to Patrick Cote in his UFC debut. Prior to joining the promotion, he had gone 4-1 in Strikeforce. Lawler heads into the fight riding the momentum of a first-round Knockout of the Night win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 157. Lawler is in his second stint with the UFC.
Also off the Seattle fight card is Bobby Green, who was scheduled to fight Danny Castillo (15-5-0). Replacing Green will be Tim Means (18-4-1).
Means had an 11-fight unbeaten streak end during his last outing, dropping a unanimous decision to Jorge Masvidal at UFC on Fox 7. Castillo is 4-1 in his last five UFC fights. His most recent bout resulted in a unanimous-decision victory over Paul Sass.
UFC on Fox 8 will take place on July 27 from Seattle’s Key Arena and will be headlined by a title bout between flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Moraga.
