Jon Anik may not know who is his future broadcasting partner will be, but he does know that whomever is chosen will have a wealth of experience inside the Octagon.
MMAJunkie.com reports that UFC officials told the “B team” commentator that his partner will be either a past or present UFC fighter.
Anik, a longtime host of ESPN’s “MMA Live” show, was brought on this past week by the UFC to be apart of the promotion’s secondary broadcast team. The current duo of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan will be the UFC’s “A team,” while Anik and his yet to be named partner will take on a complementary role, calling UFC Fight Nights and the Ultimate Fighter Finales.
The “B team” will also call live episodes of “the Ultimate Fighter,” set to debut in 2012 on FX.
For Anik, his duties will also include hosting “Ultimate Insider,” a weekly news show that will air on FUEL TV.
This will not be the first time that Anik will work alongside a MMA personality as he has hosted “MMA Live” alongside many notable fighters including Stephan Bonnar, Frank Mir, Rashad Evans, Kenny Florian and many others.
Thrilled to work with any of these veterans, Anik would not mind having Florian at his side as the duo has formed a great working relationship on “MMA Live.”
“We’ll see what happens,” Anik told MMAJunkie.com. “It’d be great to work with K-Flo. We know a lot about each other, and we have that chemistry already.”
Anik’s first official duties as an employee of the UFC will be calling the international play-by-play for next weekend’s UFC on FOX 1. Goldberg and Rogan will call the event on FOX in the U.S.
