Two competitors from last months UFC on FX 6 event have received nine-month suspensions after failing post fight drug tests for the Australian event.

Middleweight Rousimar Palhares tested positive for high levels of testosterone while light heavyweight Joey Beltran tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.

Beltran had his win changed to a “No Contest” while the loss to Palhares record stands.

News of the suspensions broke Thursday night, UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner informed MMAWeekly.com of the failed drug tests, providing the website with this statement from the promotion.

“The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents,” read a statement released by UFC officials on Thursday.

“Both athletes have agreed to serve a nine-month suspension retroactive to December 14. They must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to compete again.”

Palhares fought Hector Lombard on the main card, suffering a first round TKO loss to ‘Lightning.’ The bout opened the FX broadcasted main card for the event.

Beltran was awarded a unanimous decision win against Igor Pokrajac on the Fuel TV prelim card, which would have been the first win inside the Octagon at 205-lbs for ‘The Mexicutioner’ if it wasn’t for the failed drug test.
