Following Saturday night’s UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping event, officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out $50,000 bonuses to the “Fight Night” winners of the Sao Paulo, Brazil event.
Earning “Knockout of the Night” was middleweight headliner Vitor Belfort, while debuting fighter Ildemar Alcantara picked up “Submission of the Night,” leaving “Fight of the Night” to co-main event opponents C.B. Dollway and Danial Sarafian.
UFC on FX 7 went down at the Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo on January 19, 2013 with the main card airing on FX and the prelim card split between Fuel TV and Facebook.
Belfort picked up his third “KOTN” bonus after finishing opponent Michaek Bisping in the second round of their headliner bout. ‘The Phenom’ would catch ‘The Count’ with a head kick which would send the Brit to the mat where Belfort would finish with hammer fists at 1:27 of the round. During his post-fight victory speech, Belfort demanded a rematch with Jon Jones begging the UFC to give him the next shot instead of Chael Sonnen.
Ildemar Alcantara made his UFC debut taking a fight with Wagner Prado on short notice stepping up to light heavyweight from the middleweight division. Ildemar, who was competing on the same card as his brother Yuri, was able to secure a kneebar submission in the second round following a scramble after the two fighters went to the mat. After some jostling Ildemar was able to pull Prado’s leg under his arm forcing his opponent to cry out in pain putting an end to the fight at 2:39.
Co-main event middleweights Dollaway and Sarafian fought to a split decision with two of the judges giving the nod to Dollaway for the win. The two battled back and forth for three hard fought rounds, with each fighter looking as if he had his opponent finished. Dolloway used his ground-and-pound effectively, while Sarafian would land some big punches seeing the momentum go his way in the third as he threatened with a rear-naked choke late in the round. In the end, an out of breath Dollaway would get the win and thank his opponent for a great fight.
