Bleacher Report’s Andrew Barr:

Manvel Gamburyan is one of the top featherweight fighters in the UFC, but most will likely remember him best as a lightweight competitor on the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Manny won both his fights while on the show, earning the right to face Nate Diaz in the finals.

In the first round of his fight with Nate, Gamburyan looked poised for victory. However, an unfortunate shoulder injury in the second round forced him to forfeit the fight.

After the loss to Diaz, Manvel went 2-2 in the UFC and was subsequently released by the promotion.

From there, Gamburyan thought hard about his career and decided he would be better off in the featherweight division.

The decision proved to be a fortuitous one, as Manvel was signed by the WEC and managed to put together an impressive three fight win streak. The last of those three fights was a knockout victory over former featherweight champion Mike Brown.

This string of victories earned Manny a shot at current featherweight champ Jose Aldo, a fight that Manvel was unable to win.

Now, the WEC been absorbed by the UFC and Gamburyan is back in the most prominent MMA organization on the planet, looking to put together some wins and get another crack at that belt.
