There wasn’t much movement in the UFC rankings this week.
UFC Rochester saw a couple of fighters try out a new weight class and come up short, and the arrival of a new middleweight contender in Ian Heinisch. Charles Oliveira nearly cracked the top ten at lightweight, and Aspen Ladd did crack the top five at women’s bantamweight.
One thing we didn’t see was anyone new crack the top 15 at flyweight. Why? Because there aren’t even enough 125ers around to have a full list of 15 now, sadly.
Here’s a look at the changes this week.
P4P – No changes.
Heavyweight – Marcin Tybura and Blagoy Ivanov are up one each to 12 and 13. Walt Harris is in at 14. Justin Willis is out.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Heinisch makes his rankings debut at 11 after a co-main event win over Antonio Carlos Junior. This drops four fighters – Brad Tavares, Shoeface, Uriah Hall, and Elias Theodorou – down a spot each from 12 to 15 respectively. David Branch is back out again.
Welterweight – No changes.
Lightweight – The busiest division this week. Kevin Lee’s debut at 170 (in defeat) still only saw him drop two spots at 155, from seven to nine. This allowed Edson Barboza and Anthony Pettis (who is fighting at 170 next as well) to move up a spot to seven and eight. Oliveira moved up four spots from 15 to 11 by stopping Nik Lentz. Gregor Gillespie, Alexander Hernandez, Islam Makachev, and James Vick all fell one spot each to 12-15.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – No changes
Flyweight – There are only 13 fighters ranked because that’s all they have left I guess. Wilson Reis and Magomed Bibulatov are gone. Tim Elliott and Rogerio Bontorin are up one spot each to five and six. The remaining seven fighters below them moved up two spots by default.
Women’s Bantamweight – Ladd moved up two spots to four after defeating Sijara Eubanks. Raquel Pennington and Cat Zingano fell a spot each to five and six. Eubanks enters the list at 15.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – Joanna Jedrzejczk dropped from a tie for three to take over the four spot on her own.
